Introducing The Band Caves, an emerging Canadian country rock outfit led by singer-songwriter Josh McCabe. Building upon previous iterations of the Caves project, The Band Caves marks the definitive expression of McCabe's work.
With a warm and energized rock-edged sound and deeply reflective lyrics, The Band Caves emerges as a fresh and promising addition to Canada's storied country music industry. Their newest single, "Before It's Gone," co-written with Ken Hart and Tiffany Goss (notable for their work with Brett Young, Runaway June, and Chris Janson), is set to release on June 30, 2023, coinciding with the introduction of guitarist Jamie Ball to the lineup.
Drawing inspiration from esteemed artists such as Needtobreathe, Thomas Rhett, Brothers Osborne, and Brett Young, The Band Caves skillfully weaves together a country sound infused with rock and folk elements, all delivered with an inspirational twist. Their polished yet authentic productions feature lush acoustics, earthy & assertive drums, and powerful vocals that soar atop striking melodies.
Reflecting on his creative process, McCabe shares, "Whenever I write a song, I want it to come from a deep place. From a place of conviction. I want to sing things that I truly feel in my heart. Hope, joy, perseverance. Making your life count for something, and enjoying the craziness of the journey."
After spending many years on the road with rock bands, McCabe has now found his home in Guelph, Ontario, where he embraces the role of a devoted family man. "After grinding so hard,” he recalls, “I was just burnt out on everything. I shifted my focus to being a dad and rebuilding my mental health. To be honest, I was ready to put the guitar away but then these songs poured out of me." With a grateful laugh, he adds, “I didn’t choose country music but I’m glad it chose me.”
